When the image prints to the edge of the label it is called a bleed. On a press, the artwork is printed on rolls of paper and then die cut out to size. If you do not allow for a 1/16 of an inch bleed, any misalignment will result with the artwork not running to the edge of the cut. This means a hairline white edge can appear where there should be no white edge at all. Building your files 1/6″ larger than the final trim size guarantees that images truly will go all the way to the edge of the printed paper.
