Recycling Labels for Our Customer

Partnering to help our Customers Succeed

Our good customer, Pizzicato Gourmet Pizza, recently decided to exit the Take and Bake pizza market to focus on their restaurants and home delivery business.  They came up with an excellent idea to reuse the thousands of Take and Bake labels they had in inventory.  Rose City Label donated the manpower to slit two full pallets of labels down into narrow strips that will be used to close their salad boxes for take out orders.

This was a brilliant solution, and we are proud to be a part of it.  Pizzicato saves some future label expense and everyone benefits by keeping these labels out of the landfill.

Flap Lamination – Variable Data made Easy

This label shows off more of the complex converting capabilities at Rose City Label.   Converting is all the important stuff we do on our press after the ink is laid down.  This includes:

  • Laminating
  • Die cutting
  • Perforating
  • Under scoring
  • Top scoring

This particular example shows a specialty laminate that allows the end user to fill in the variable information at the job site and then lay down the lamination after the writing is completed.

This flap lamination allows the variable (ball point pen) information to be protected by the laminate — much more durable than writing over the top of the lamination.

Flap lamination is tricky, and it costs a little more than standard lamination, but if your project requires this type of protection, we can help.

Government Shutdown Hurts our Customers!

This is bad news for us and our customers – the TTB shutdown is increasing the already-long lead times for new label approval, according to BeerPulse.com

The Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB) regulates alcoholic beverages. As we were quick to point out both last week and on Monday, the government shutdown has left the TTB without funding to carry on regulatory activities. Two of those activities are issuance of brewers notices for new breweries opening up (which we won’t get into in this post) and issuance of approvals for new alcoholic beverage labels intended to be sold across state lines.

Thankfully, we are still open for business — call us today to get your reprints of your existing, pre-approved labels right away!  Cheers!

We are very proud that Rose City Label could help the students in the Portland State University Craft Beer program learn about labels.

This innovative course has been extremely popular around the craft brewing world.  In this comprehensive online program you will learn from local brewers and distillers, PSU School of Business faculty, and finance and accounting experts who specialize in the craft beverage business.  As part of the curriculum, experts from the industry are invited to share their knowledge with the students.

My presentation was a one hour interactive session with many label examples.  Please click here to view the presentation.
